A Paris Guide

Paris is difficult to visit. Expectations are high. I think people try too hard, and that exhausts them and makes the experience underwhelming. Once I quit looking for "the best" of anything in Paris, I started to find places I loved.

A few things to keep in mind:

• A touristy spot is not a bad spot. Do the touristy things that look good to you.
• A local spot is not automatically a good spot. Often the only benefit is a lack of tourists; that doesn't mean the beer or the food is better.
• Before your visit, look at ongoing art expositions: expo.paris.
• Before your visit, check the Shotgun app for live shows and DJ sets you might want to see.
